Grasping Abundance

One of the many people putting thoughts online. I am a daughter, a sister, a mom, an aunt, a teacher, a student, a dreamer, a procrastinator, and still a girl that loves sewing, nurturing, reading & writing, jazz, and the music of the 80's.

Rabid tiny predators

Although I miss that little puppy, right now, I wish I have never allowed him in my house.
My ankles are crying for relief.

Having an infestation of fleas is worse than dealing with roaches or rabid mosquitoes, and by us living near a water outlet that drains water from a golf course, there are some rough mosquitoes here in the summer. But fleas are a different breed. They are some tinier MoFos, and harder to eliminate. If I remember correctly from my elementary social studies classes, they were part of the origin for the Bubonic Plague that hit Europe during the Middle Ages. I made the mistake of not thinking about fleas until I saw some on the puppy four days after he was in the house. I had the kids to promptly give him a bath, but it was way too late. A week after I took the poor sick fellow to the Human Society, I realized the basement TV area was infested with fleas, and I have been spraying, but to no avail.

Although I like floors with padding, I am ready to get rid of the carpet in my house, as a friend suggested. I may try getting it steam cleaned first. I wanted to bomb the house, and put down some flea powder, but will have to wait until I can get a weekend where my kids can hang out with relatives or at their Dad's house. An issue that is pending is that my childhood buddy is coming to town this weekend and has a asthmatic child like I do. At this point, I want to tell her that we will meet her at a restaurant, but she has never been over my house. I may let her stop in for a moment, and then explain to her what is going on, so that we can try some other options that I am weighing right now. At this point, all I can do is keep vacuuming the carpet and lightly spraying the furniture, floor and carpet. I am going to try to find out what do kennel owners use for their own homes that is safe for children. I must give it to my ex with the many dogs he had, we never had a problem with fleas, and I had to learn my lesson the hard way. Although I want my children to have the experience of caring for a pet, the itching outweighs for me, any future with a dog right now.
