Grasping Abundance

One of the many people putting thoughts online. I am a daughter, a sister, a mom, an aunt, a teacher, a student, a dreamer, a procrastinator, and still a girl that loves sewing, nurturing, reading & writing, jazz, and the music of the 80's.

Chilling Observations along with Cravings.......With No Expectations.......

January 24, 2007

It is so cold this morning, and by last night being the Federal Government (HUD)'s mandate to count the homeless in the Michigan, I figured that they may have gotten a good number of folks up in those shelters last night. I thank God for my little house and having heat to keep us warm. Despite that, I must admit that I do feel rather poor right now. Although I know I am very blessed, I like many folks, can't help but to want more. I do miss somethings that are luxuries to those that are homeless.

By things still being financially tight for me, I know that I have to stay in chill mode until things get better. But I am craving for a steak dinner along with their Golden Nugget Fried Cheesecake at the LongHorn Steak House and would like to take my family there. A friend took me there for her birthday some months ago, and I will try to return the favor when my birthday comes. I also want some of that vegetable lasagna that Chef Keith Famie sold at his former little bistro on Fourth Street near Lafayette in Royal Oak back in the early 1990's. Being pregnant with my children around that time, I used to hit that spot to buy a $5.00 square of that stuff every payday. I am going to try to find a recipe online to make some. I originally remember Chef Keith Famie with that gorgeous thick mane of black hair. He looked so much better back then from what folks saw on the CBS show “Survivor.” Despite his financial problems which were showcased after the show, and becoming infamous from “Survivor”, he seemed to be an friendly guy.

With this cold weather upon us now, I am desiring a fake fur coat from Donna Salyers Fabulous Furs. The one that I really want is no longer being carried by them, but I could go for this one.
I tried sewing with fake fur twice, but it takes a lot of patience. Right now, I just rather buy myself the coat. There are a lot of accessories that they sell too, and I am in the mood for a hat, but knowing myself, I would lose it in a minute, and be pissed because I paid all that money for one, so I'll stick to fleece or velvet.
